# Microsoft SharePoint

> Let agents search SharePoint and OneDrive documents, runbooks and policies during investigations.

Connect **Microsoft SharePoint** so agents can find and read your organization's documents (runbooks, policies, architecture write-ups, post-mortems) while they investigate. Clarion searches SharePoint sites and, if you allow it, OneDrive for Business. It is read-only: Clarion never creates, edits or shares files.

<Note>
  **Estimated time:** 5 minutes. You will need a **Global Administrator** or **Privileged Role Administrator** in the Microsoft tenant to grant consent, and a Clarion workspace admin to connect.
</Note>

## Prerequisites

* A Microsoft 365 tenant with SharePoint Online
* Ability to grant admin consent for application permissions in Microsoft Entra ID

## Connect

1. In Clarion, open **Integrations** and find **Microsoft SharePoint**.

2. Click **Connect with Microsoft** and sign in as a Microsoft administrator.

3. Review and accept the requested permission:

   | Permission | Type | Why |
   | - | - | - |
   | `Sites.Read.All` | Application | Search and read documents in SharePoint sites and OneDrive |

4. Return to Clarion. The integration shows as connected.

<Note>
  `Sites.Read.All` lets Clarion read the whole tenant. Use **Agent access** to narrow what agents can see.
</Note>

## Choose what agents can read

Once connected, the **Agent access** section on the integration page controls what agents can read. Clarion applies these settings to every search and every document read, whatever the agent asks for.

| Setting | Effect |
| - | - |
| **SharePoint sites** | Pick the sites agents may read. Leave it empty to allow every site in the tenant. |
| **Include OneDrive** | Allow or block files in users' OneDrive for Business, including files nobody has shared. |
| **Search region** | Your tenant's data location. Clarion detects it when Microsoft reports it. Otherwise, find it in the Microsoft 365 admin center under **Settings → Org settings → Organization profile → Data location**. |

Click **Save** to apply changes. They take effect on the next tool call.

<Note>
  When OneDrive is included, Microsoft builds a search index for unshared files on the first search. In a large tenant this can take days, and until it finishes, searches only return files that have been shared.
</Note>

## What agents can do

| Tool | What it returns |
| - | - |
| `search_documents` | Documents matching a few keywords, with a short snippet, the site and the folder each one lives in. Agents can narrow by site, file type, author or modified date, and sort by most recently changed. |
| `get_document` | The text of one document (Word, PDF, PowerPoint, Excel, plain text, or a SharePoint page), opened from search results or from a SharePoint link. Long documents are read a page at a time. |
| `list_sites` | The SharePoint sites agents may read |
| `list_drives` | A site's document libraries |
| `list_folder` | The files and folders inside a library or folder |

Clarion removes secrets such as API keys and tokens from document text before an agent sees it. Documents over 10 MB, and images, can't be read as text.

## Disconnect

Click **Disconnect** on the integration page. This removes the workspace's Clarion binding. It does **not** revoke the Clarion application in your Microsoft tenant. To remove the consent too, do it from Microsoft Entra ID.
